Why We Built It

Some products begin with a sketch.

This one began with disappointment.

Over the years we'd used everything from lightweight backpacking tents to large canvas bell tents.

Every design had something to like.

Every design asked you to compromise.

Then we discovered Lavvu-style shelters.

Two in particular stood out.

They were incredibly stable in strong winds, offered a huge amount of living space and packed surprisingly small.

When those tents disappeared from the market, it left us asking a simple question.

Why wasn't anyone building something like this anymore?

Rather than trying to copy what came before, we used those ideas as a starting point and set out to build a modern modular shelter using today's materials and everything we'd learnt from years of camping.

Not to reinvent the Lavvu.

To refine it for the way Adventurers travel today.

Space Without the Bulk

One of the biggest frustrations with camping shelters is the compromise between pack size and living space.

Small tents often feel restrictive.

Larger tents become bulky and difficult to carry.

We believed there was a better balance.

Packed away, the Lavvu Modular Tent measures just 30 × 25 × 25 cm — smaller than many adventure motorcycle helmets.

Once pitched, it creates a surprisingly spacious shelter with room to sleep, cook, wait out bad weather or simply enjoy being outdoors.

Designed This Way

Every decision was made with real-world camping in mind.

The Lavvu uses modern materials chosen to balance durability, weight and pack size without sacrificing the strength needed for years of adventure.

Setup was kept intentionally simple.

No complicated pole systems.

No unnecessary faff after a long day outdoors.

The aim was always to spend less time pitching camp and more time enjoying where you've arrived.

The modular design means the shelter can be adapted to suit the trip.

Use the outer on its own.

Pitch only the inner.

Add the footprint when conditions demand it.

Connect the tarp to create additional sheltered living space.

Every part is designed to work together from the beginning, not added as an afterthought.

The best ideas don't always come from us either.

During development, Adventurers shared their thoughts and experiences.

One simple suggestion was to allow the flysheet door to zip from both directions, improving ventilation in warm conditions.

It was a better idea than ours.

So we built it that way.

PFAS Free

We only use C6 DWR Waterproof Agent in the waterproofing of our materials, this is certified as PFAS Free and more environmentally friendly.

Further to our sustainability efforts we do not mass produce we work to reduce our waste and footprint on the planet as much as possible. We love the outdoors, why would we destroy it!

Materials

Flysheet outer tent and Tarp

20D Ripstop Sil-Nylon, or Silicon impregnated Nylon.

This is far superior than most Nylons as it is as waterproof on the inside as the outside and strong!

Bathtub Base

The Base is 40D Ripstop Sil-Nylon with Dyneema for strength, weight and abrasion resistance, Silicon treated for waterproofing.

Poles and Pegs

Both the Poles and Pegs are made from A6061 Aluminium which is commercial grade and found on Aircraft, super strong and light!

5 Year Warranty

We stand behind all our products and make them fit for purpose, fit for Adventure. We offer a 5 year warranty against manufacture defect.

There are ofcoure caveats to this but the process is simple, send us photographs, we will assess if it is repairable or needs to be replaced.

This does not cover damage in use e.g. camping on thorns, careless use.

If you treat the tent correctly it should last a lifetime of use.

I own way too many tents, this has just made them all redundant, I’ve been incredibly impressed with the ADV Products Lavvu. From the quality of the materials to the thoughtful design, it’s clear this has been built by people who actually understand camping and adventure riding.

The Lavvu is quick and straightforward to pitch, even after a long day on the bike, and offers a surprisingly spacious interior with plenty of room for both sleeping and storing gear. The build quality is excellent, with robust fabrics, strong stitching, and quality components that inspire confidence in all kinds of weather.

The tarp is a fantastic addition and really extends the usable living space. Whether it’s providing shelter while cooking, somewhere to sit out of the rain, or shade on hot days, it’s become an essential part of my setup. It gives the whole camp a much more comfortable and versatile feel.

The footprint is equally worthwhile. It protects the tent floor, keeps everything cleaner, and makes packing away much easier, especially after camping on wet or muddy ground. It’s one of those accessories you quickly realise you wouldn’t want to be without.

Overall, this is a superb camping system that offers outstanding value. The Lavvu, tarp, and footprint work perfectly together to create a durable, practical, and comfortable setup that’s ideal for motorcycle adventures, wild camping, or weekend trips. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable shelter that’s built to last.

Brilliant product that makes packing simple. Easy to put up and versatile with loads of space. I use an xlw sleep mat and it fits comfortably inside.

I like tents. A bit too much if you ask my wife. But I don’t buy just any tent. I do my research and it has to fulfil a niche. Consequently I have far too many Hillebergs, so the thought of adding anything else to the line up was far from my mind. I saw the Laavu at the ABR. Later at the Summer Social I had a chat with Jez about it and I was impressed with his ethos and the considerable effort that’s been put into the design and making it biker specific. That’s where this wins, with the addition of a tarp making it super flexible (although when it’s super windy it’s not so useful like most tarps). Overall, I love this creation. Easy to pitch, bags of room inside and as a 6ft 4 bloke I finally have a space I can get changed in. Use it without the fly in hot weather, make a base by adding the tarp. Everything is just the right quality to make it affordable enough but well up to the job. Very impressed and glad I took a punt on it. Having all this versatility packing up so tightly, even with an added 2nd tarp pole and groundsheet, is a great achievement. Very happy indeed.
